The National Research Council for Economics, Humanities, and Social Sciences conducted the inauguration ceremony for its 9th Chairman, Shin Dong-cheon, on March 7th (Thursday) afternoon, at the medium auditorium on the first floor of the research support building in the Sejong National Research Complex. 

The ceremony, attended by the Chairman of the National Science and Technology Council, heads of the 26 national research institutions under the council's purview, and all council staff, featured an inauguration speech by Chairman Shin Dong-cheon. 

In his speech, Chairman Shin emphasized the significant societal and economic impacts of the low birthrate issue and underscored the crucial role of the council and its research institutions in proactively researching and informing the government and society about not only immediate challenges but also long-term objectives and the strategic direction for South Korea. He concluded by pledging to foster an environment where research institutions can take pride in their work and maximize their potential and creativity, aiming to position the council and its institutions at the forefront of guiding South Korea's future. The ceremony included a salute to the national flag, an introduction of guests, the chairman's inauguration speech, and a commemorative photo session.
